Kayaking near Mt. Hood, Oregon

Oregon

oregon Travel Guide

Oregon has been my home for over 20 years and I still have so much to discover across this gorgeous state! The nature and hiking options are endless and you really can’t go wrong with whatever destination you choose to explore.

Southern Oregon is home to Crater Lake which is the deepest lake in the United States. A little further north is the Willamette Valley which produces some of the best wine in the world and is brimming with gorgeous wineries. The city of Portland is in the northern part of the state and is the state’s only major city. Portland is known for its quirky style, impeccable foodie scene, as well as craft beer scene.

Other popular destinations include the gorgeous Mt. Hood which is known for its abundant hiking trails, the scenic Columbia River gorge which is famous for its amazing waterfalls, and the city of Bend which is every outdoor enthusiast’s dream location.  If you love the outdoors then Oregon is a must-visit destination!

When to Go

The best time to visit Oregon is definitely during the summer months with the best weather being June through August.  I definitely don’t recommend visiting during the fall and winter months (October through March). These months will typically be very cold and rainy and will not allow for many outdoor adventures.

Travel Safety

Oregon is typically a safe travel destination. I am an Oregon resident and have traveled all across Oregon without having any major safety concerns. The people are typically friendly and open-minded across the state. If you visit Portland, make sure and take precautions and be aware of your surroundings when exploring at night.
